The Kaitlin Group has saved the best for last with the final release of its South Port Beach condominiums at Port of Newcastle in Clarington.

The upscale condos, featuring spectacular views of Lake Ontario, with the waterfront trail at the doorstep, will offer low-maintenance yet spacious suites: units range from 1,772 to 2,642 square feet.

Port of Newcastle, under development for more than a decade, is a 101-hectare site that includes a range of housing types.

An on-site 260-slip marina, tennis courts, 2.5 kilometres of waterfront, walking trails, surrounding conservation lands and creeks, and the new 12,000-square-foot Admiral's Walk Clubhouse provide a wealth of recreational opportunities. Amenities are minutes away in Newcastle or Bowmanville.

"We like balanced communities that hit first-time buyers, families and empty-nesters," company president Bill Daniell says of the site, one of Kaitlin's "Country Club" communities. "Here, the magic is in the price point and the lifestyle."

The South Port condos have ratcheted up the level of luxury at Port of Newcastle, with just 42 condos in seven six-unit buildings.

Prices range from $599,990 for a two-bedroom-plus-den, single-level unit and go to $799,990 for two-level, three-bedroom homes. Elevators are an option for the two-floor models.

The condos include lavish millwork, gables and dormers, attached two-car garages, gas outlets for barbecues and spacious terraces and balconies. Inside, the open-concept layouts have 10-foot ceilings on the main floor and nine-foot on the second.

Other standard features include direct-vent gas fireplaces, gourmet kitchens with islands and breakfast bars, master bedrooms with walk-in closets and luxury ensuites.

The monthly fee for exterior maintenance, snow removal and grass cutting is $277.

Immediate occupancy of some models is available and two model suites are on site.

Buyers will receive Gold Card privileges to the Admiral's Walk Clubhouse, which includes a spa, fitness room, indoor pool, landscaped sun deck, billiards game room, theatre room, Internet-ready business centre and library, party room and lounge. Homeowners also get preference for dockage at the marina.

The Port of Newcastle, slated for completion over the next five years, will represent a $700 million investment and will include a redevelopment of the existing marina and waterfront restaurant.

The sales office is at 90 Shipway Ave., Newcastle. Take the Mill St. exit off Highway 401, south to Port of Newcastle Dr. (Mill St. becomes Port of Newcastle). Hours are Monday to Thursday 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday 11a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and holidays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
