Like many Toronto communities, the prestigious Etobicoke neighbourhood known as Islington is undergoing significant change. And this two-storey, one-of-a kind custom-built four-bedroom home is a reflection of that change. Surrounded by a mix of detached bungalows and two-storey homes and situated on a mature tree-lined street, this modern executive home is newly built – only about a year and a half ago.
"This is a very family-friendly neighbourhood. And though there are other two-storey newer homes in the area, there is no other home that looks exactly like this," says listing agent Mary-Ann Semen.
"The exterior architecture was Renaissance-inspired. The two-tone stucco exterior accentuates the fine detailed trim, which in turn emphasizes the soaring entrance columns and highlights the arched palladium windows," adds Semen.
The 60-foot frontage allows for an extra-wide circular drive, which accommodates up to 12 cars.
"It's almost unheard of these days in Toronto to have so much space for parking," says Semen. The home is close to schools and many amenities, including an outdoor ice rink, swimming pool, baseball diamonds, an abundance of parks and golf courses. It has easy access to highways. As well, the Kipling subway and a GO station are not far away.
Double entry doors open to the foyer with a cathedral ceiling, double closet and hardwood floor. The main floor has 10-foot ceilings throughout and extra-wide baseboards and trim.
"This was an ingenious floor plan where there is no full wall to be found on the first level, only a quarter wall divider and columns separate rooms," states Semen.
The living room is adjacent to the foyer and features hardwood floors, pot lights, built-in bench, coffered ceiling and walkout to a mud room. The dining room has pot lights, hardwood and crown moulding. The open concept family room features hardwood, coffered ceiling, built-in bench, inset gas fireplace with a flat screen TV above and unique wall sculpting on both sides.
The designer kitchen gets plenty of sunlight and boasts a coffered beamed ceiling, a blend of dark grain and French white cabinetry with onyx granite counters. It also features a breakfast bar, bar and wine rack, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and hardwood. The breakfast room has hardwood and a walkout to deck.
The mud room is nestled between the living room and kitchen and can be accessed from both rooms.
The second floor landing has enough space for a sitting room or a computer nook, and overlooks the foyer. The master bedroom has a double door entry, pot lights, wall scones, hardwood, walk-in closet and a Juliette balcony overlooking the fenced backyard. It features a five-piece ensuite with a corner soaker tub, separate glass enclosed shower stall with marble surround and twin sinks.
A secondary bedroom features a cathedral ceiling, hardwood and four-piece ensuite. The third bedroom also has a four-piece ensuite, hardwood and a double closet. There is another four-piece ensuite in the fourth bedroom as well as a walk-in closet.
The basement features nine-foot ceilings, wainscoting, decorative columns, three-piece bathroom and eco-friendly bamboo flooring.
