Builder's family makes donation

November 21, 2009

Building the future of Markham Stouffville Hospital was the inspiration for the most recent Touched with Hope Gala, hosted by Carlo Baldassarra, chairman of Greenpark Homes, his wife Angela, and their family.

At the event, attended by more than 600 guests, the Baldassarra family donated $1 million to the hospital for the ultrasound centre.

The Terrace Banquet Centre in Vaughan was the venue for this event as the Baldassarras gathered on stage with their sons Mauro, Armando and Michael to present the cheque.

Accepting the donation was Janet M. Beed, president and CEO, Markham Stouffville Hospital, Suzette Strong, president, Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation, Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor Wayne Emmerson and Dr. Michael Virro, obstetrician and gynecologist at Markham Stouffville Hospital, and director of the Markham Fertility Centre and medical director for Cells for Life Cord Blood Institute.
