1950s

This old beauty, circa 1950s, was purchased in 1963 as a display cooler for Stavebank Florist, Port Credit. Manufactured by the Frozenaire Cooler Co. in St. Catherines, she has stood the test of time.

Still in use today, "Old Bessie," as she is affectionately known, continues to preserve flowers for all occasions. From keeping corsages crisp for proms, to holding the "I love you" roses, to sheltering the life-affirming florals for funerals, she stands proudly in the showroom. Wedding bouquets have rested there overnight, waiting to show off on that special day.

She has quietly played her part in the pageant of life for 46 years. Sure, modern coolers are more sleek and maybe even more efficient, but none can match the uniqueness and dependability of Old Bessie.
