Valentine's Day used to be so G-rated. Once it was all about flowers and hearts and exchanging cards featuring punny phrases such as (Simpsons reference alert) "I choo-choo-choose you."
Now it's about gifts of lingerie and events like the Toronto Erotic Arts and Crafts Fair, on Saturday at the Gladstone (1214 Queen St. W.) from noon to 8 p.m.
We're getting into the X-rated spirit here, too – with a spirit named X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. Nothing says hearts-and-flowers season more than a sweet (and strong) pink drink. Nothing, that is, except two drinks. This week, instead of offering just one recipe, we've coupled up with a pair of love potions.
Adapted from a recipe developed by the makers of X-Rated Fusion Liqueur.
1.5 oz X-Rated Fusion Liqueur
1.5 oz vodka (recipe calls for Skyy)
Splash of cherry brandy
1 cherry for garnish
Shake X-Rated and vodka over ice. Strain into a martini glass. Slowly add a dash of cherry brandy so that it sinks to the bottom. Garnish with a cherry with a knotted stem.
Makes 1 drink.
