A series of large, lowrise condominium suites is the latest addition to the Port of Newcastle development, set on the Lake Ontario shoreline in Clarington.
South Port Beach Homes by the Kaitlin Group will consist of 42 condos with six units each in seven buildings, starting at $599,990.
Port of Newcastle is just east of Oshawa, and is surrounded by nature. It's flanked by two creeks, bordered by green space to the north and the lake to the south. It's an established community, with detached homes and condominiums.
It has nearly two kilometres of shoreline, a waterfront trail, an on-site 260-slip marina, tennis courts and a dockside restaurant. Schools and parks are also nearby.
This summer, the 12,000-square-foot Admiral's Walk Clubhouse will open. Its facilities include a spa, fitness room, indoor pool, sundeck, billiards room, theatre room, business centre, party room and lounge. There will also be a social director. Condo buyers get free access to the clubhouse.
There are three models of South Port Beach suites, in one and two levels. Prices start at $599,990 for a two-bedroom-plus-den, 1,772-square-foot model, and range to $799,990 for a three-bedroom, 2,642-square-foot suite with retreat area.
Exterior maintenance, snow removal and grass cutting are covered by the monthly condo fee of $277. Occupancy is April 2009.
Professionals and other buyers looking for a waterfront lifestyle close to Toronto are the target market for these homes, says sales associate Alison Woolicutt.
Architectural design guidelines have been set to ensure the distinctiveness of the community. Exterior features include stone and wood siding, ornate millwork, gables, dormers and steep pitched rooflines. The homes will have wide rooftop terraces, attached two-car garages and professional landscaping with irrigation system.
Interior highlights include open-concept layouts with 10-foot-high main floor ceilings, nine-foot high or vaulted second-floor ceilings, oversized windows and private optional elevators. Gourmet kitchens feature islands and breakfast bars (as per plan), granite countertops and upgraded cabinetry. Master bedrooms have walk-in closets and ensuites with acrylic soaker tubs, separate glass showers and marble countertops. Other features include direct vent fireplaces, decorative columns, imported tile, oak engineered hardwood flooring in the dining room, living room/great room, hall and stair landing, and 40-ounce broadloom in the balance of the house.
The Oshawa GO train is a 10-minute drive and Toronto about 45 minutes away.
The Kaitlin Group is offering a pre-construction special, which includes one year free boat slip rental, six appliances and $5,000 in upgrades or cash back on closing.
