Set and match: Winner's circle wines complement varied cuisine

This week's winners beat out more than 20 general list wines. The Barbera D'Asti is robust, so you may want to save it to serve with fall stews or pot roasts. The barbera grape also has enough acidity to stand up to tomato-sauced pasta or pizza. The Toso Malbec is also reasonably priced, loaded with sunny flavours from Argentina. I find this a great match with Italian sausages. And finally, a white for all tastes, Lungarotti's Pinot Grigio. Lungarotti is my favourite winery in Umbria. Their ancient town, Torgiano, is charming and the winery's hotel, Le Tre Vaselle, has a great dining room with their wine museum nearby. This grigio is great with fish dishes. Cheers!
