Two Old World wines, one New World

Touriga roriz, touriga franca and tinta barocca are red grape varieties from Portugal that normally go into making port. They do great service in a normal red wine in our best buy of the week: Aliança Foral, from the Douro. Our newcomer of the week is Fabiano Pinot Grigio, with its cute contemporary label. Half the bottles from Italy have a guy's pant legs, and half illustrate a girl's. It's a playful concept obviously aimed at twentysomethings, but since the wine is quite good, I forgive them. And last, a zippy Redbank Long Paddock Sauvignon Blanc from Oz, sporting a new-look label. All three wines as usual beat out two dozen general list contenders and were purchased again in stores to check for consistency.
