Safety that smells good

With holiday guests just around the corner, it's time to think about creating a welcoming entryway. Seasonal planters, a cheery wreath and even a freshly painted front door all top the list, along with keeping your steps clear and ice-free.

Fruits & Passion (www.fruitsand passion.com) will make your entranceway smell welcoming, too, with its scented de-icing salt, $16 for 1 kilogram.

Available in Winter Berry, described as a "delicate scent of frosted berries and cedar wood," it gives your doorstep (and wherever you're storing it) a strong but seasonal scent reminiscent of wood shavings and berries.

The salt comes in a little red bucket with wooden scoop – a great festive touch for your entryway, and a handy way to store salt all winter long.
