SPECIAL TO THE STAR
Parkbridge, a Canadian leader in ownership and management of over 70 adult lifestyle communities, has begun construction of Country Meadows, a new development in the growing town of Wasaga Beach.
Country Meadows, geared for people over 50, includes 160 townhome units and adjoins Hometown, an established modular home community also managed by Parkbridge. They are in the east end of Wasaga Beach, outside the hustle and traffic of the main beach area on Georgian Bay.
"The whole beauty of the property is the mature growth, and so our goal is to preserve as many trees as possible," says Tim Gillies, sales manager for Country Meadows.
Some Country Meadows units back onto woods, meadows or a pond; others back onto a private nine-hole golf course. Homebuyers can use the course at no cost. Country Meadows is planned for convenience and accessibility. Each all-brick one-storey unit has a single garage, covered front porch, and a 10-foot by 20-foot deck.
The 1,200-square-foot interior, designed by architect Lloyd Hunt, features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry, and an open-concept kitchen/dining/living area.
A cathedral ceiling and two tube lights keep the foyer and open area bright.
The four-foot crawlspace and 23-foot garage provide storage space.
All units have maintenance-free exteriors, low-E vinyl windows, and ground level entrances.
Residents have the use of a new recreation centre to be completed in December and there's an outdoor pool.
Monthly fees of $588.23 to $638.23 include taxes, water, maintenance, land lease, reserve fund contribution, snow clearing of driveways and paths, and grass cutting. Parkbridge is also responsible for washing windows and cleaning eavestroughs.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is minutes away, as well as recreational facilities and skiing and hiking trails.
A variety of shops and restaurants are nearby.
Prices start at $159,900. Fifty per cent of Phase 1 is sold. Upgrades such as a natural gas fireplace with TV cabinet, central air conditioning, sit-down shower, jet tub and appliance package were being offfered.
The first phase of 26 units is under construction. A furnished model, on Blue Grass Lane, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For directions and information call 1-866-877-1109 or go to www.countrymeadow.ca.
