Porsche – it's a name synonymous with sleekly expensive cars far outside the grasp of the lowly proletariat. So it's no surprise that the line of kitchen cabinetry the company has launched is far from pedestrian and, well, sleekly expensive. (Prices start at about $80,000.)
Designed in conjunction with, and distributed through, German custom cabinet maker Poggenpohl, a Porsche kitchen features handle-free drawers, extra-deep cabinets, and countertops that look as though they're floating in space.
Poggenpohl's only Canadian location is in Calgary. But don't worry, if you've got $80 grand for a kitchen and live in Glace Bay, they'll probably send someone over to measure it up.
While it may seem odd that a world-renowned carmaker has begun turning out kitchens for the hoity-toity, it makes a certain amount of sense, given that there are signs that the car as status object may finally be dying.
Hmm, wonder if Chrysler has heard about this? Is a Fiat bathroom in the cards?
