Swingin' chandeliers

Looking at the chandeliers she designs, it would not come entirely as a surprise to learn that "Sugar" Gay Isber had swung from a few during what one suspects may have been a colourful youth.

After all, this uber-charged jewelry designer/party planner/screenwriter/proud U.S. navy mom/Harley Davidson rider is clearly a bon vivant who likes a good time.

But whatever the inspiration for her one-of-a-kind hanging lights, they speak to an exuberant love of all that glitters, glows and gleams — and a refusal to settle for status quo.

One of Isber's zanier creations, a sculpture made of plastic bags filled with blue water attached to heavy metal chains and backlit from the base, says it all.

For prices and to see Isber's (slightly) more subdued lighting pieces and gorgeous jewellery made from vintage beads and baubles, visit her website, www.gayisber.com.
