MISSISSAUGA
Three builders offer semis
May 15, 2008
Three builders are offering semi-detached homes at Churchill Meadows in Mississauga. When Paradise Homes, Arista Homes and Fieldgate Homes released 273 lots on May 3, more than 1,000 people showed up to see their offerings and about 120 lots sold, according to Ron Baruch, vice-president of Paradise Homes.
The homes on 23- and 28-foot lots range from about 1,300 to 2,000 square feet. Prices start in the $340,000s range.
More than 1,500 homes have been built at Churchill Meadows during the last six years. The site is at Winston Churchill Blvd. and Thomas St. and this recent release might be the last set of lots for the site, according to Baruch.
"There is great value at this community. Prices have appreciated in Mississauga and continue to appreciate. The same house type that we sold there three years ago has increased by about $40,000 or $50,000. That's just the way Mississauga is now," Baruch says.
The builders' website had about 1,200 people pre-register since launching in January.
"People were well-prepared beforehand. They knew the lots, home sizes and many people waited six or seven hours to go through the centre and buy what they wanted," he says.
The location of the site with close access to Highways 401 and 403, as well as nearby public transportation is attractive to buyers.
Existing schools and shops are another benefit.
"We had first-time buyers, buyers with young children and also parents who were buying homes with their grown children, such as each buying one side of a semi," says Baruch. "We are seeing a lot more buyers who want to be near family than we have in past years."
The sales office at Winston Churchill and Thomas St. is open Monday to Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m., weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Fridays. Call 905-817-1667 or visit churchillsemis.com.
